I want to develop my own suite for FEE test and commissioning using the ReadoutCard library

Prerequisites: CC7 server

  1. (As root) Install devtoolset-7
    Follow the instructions available here.
  2. (As root) Install the CERN certificates (needed for step 3)
    Follow the instructions available here.
  3. (As root) Configure the ALICE O2 YUM repo
    Follow the instructions available here.
  4. (As root) Install the ReadoutCard RPM
    Find out the latest ReadoutCard RPM: 
     yum search ReadoutCard
    Install the latest ReadoutCard RPM (replace version number accordingly): 
     yum -y install alisw-ReadoutCard+v0.8.8-3.x86_64
  5. Enable devtoolset-7 
     source scl_source enable devtoolset-7
    Consider adding this to your ~/.bashrc for permanent effect.
  6. Load the O2 environment modules
    First, list the available module: 
     aliswmod avail
    Load the ReadoutCard package (replace the version number accordingly): 
     aliswmod enter ReadoutCard/v0.8.8-3
    More information about O2 modules here.
  7. Build an example to see that everything is working
    Download this sample and save it under my-roc-test.cxx.
    Build it by doing the following:
    NOTE: change the path to the source code accordingly
    NOTE: change the version numbers in the include paths accordingly 
g++ -Wall -I/opt/alisw/el7/ReadoutCard/v0.8.8-3/include -I/opt/alisw/el7/boost/v1.66.0-6/include -I/opt/alisw/el7/InfoLogger/v1.0.5-3/include -lReadoutCard -L/opt/alisw/el7/ReadoutCard/v0.8.8-3/lib my-roc-test.cxx -o my-roc-test

  1. Start your development
    You should now be able to develop against the ReadoutCard library.
